Hi, I’m Aaron, and I love movies. Like, really love movies.
If I could watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy on repeat from now until the end of time, I’d be perfectly happy. Movies, to me, are the ultimate form of entertainment—where story, visuals, and music come together to create something magical.
Some of my all-time favorites? Terminator 2, The Princess Bride, Mulan, The Green Mile, Cinema Paradiso, Pulp Fiction, Up, Ratatouille, Shawshank Redemption, Schindler’s List, and Starship Troopers. The list is endless, but you get the idea.
From Theater Kid to Film Composer
I’ve always been drawn to storytelling. I was a theater kid growing up and wrote my first monologue at age 11. That love for stories eventually led me to music, where I found my passion for composing and preparing music for film.
I’m a huge fan of animation and thematic writing—there’s just something about a great theme that sticks with you long after the credits roll. Some of my favorite composers include Alan Menken, Michael Giacchino, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Howard Shore, and Ennio Morricone.
Education and Songwriting
Along the way, I earned two degrees from the Los Angeles College of Music: an Associate’s in Songwriting and a Bachelor’s in Composing for Visual Media.
In addition to composing, I love writing songs. I aspire to create songs for film in the spirit of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman—songs that feel timeless and deeply connected to the story. My influences range from the storytelling brilliance of Billy Joel, Bernie Taupin and Elton John to the wit and charm of Randy Newman.
Mentorship That Shaped Me
I’ve been fortunate to have some incredible mentors, but none more impactful than the late composer Marty Davich. Marty taught me the essence of film scoring and completely shaped how I approach the craft. One of the best pieces of advice he gave me was to “understand the technique, but chase the emotion.” That wisdom has stuck with me and continues to influence every thing I write.
Looking Ahead
I’m new to the field, but I’m eager to bring my passion, creativity, and love for storytelling to every project I work on.
My goal? To make music for movies. Lots and lots of movies.
